CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston women's soccer downed local foe Charleston Southern 5-0 on Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated at home.
The Cougars got on the board in the 22nd minute, when a cross from Delaney Dawes found Faith Slimmer on the front post. Slimmer earned her second goal of the day in the 40th minute, when a ball from Millie Cluxton found Slimmer behind the Buccaneers' back line, putting the ball past the keeper into the left side of the net. Charleston entered the break with a 2-0 lead.
Slimmer scored the Cougars' third goal with another cross into the box from Dawes, finding Slimmer in front of the net to touch it in. With three goals in the game, Slimmer becomes just the fifth Cougar in program history to earn a hat trick, right behind Shea Vidovic in Charleston's home opener versus South Carolina State.
Dawes found the fourth goal of the day on a breakaway, scoring on a 1v1 with the keeper. Bella Antonio wrapped up the scoring frenzy for Charleston, with a rocket shot from outside the box into the top of the net.
The Cougars advance to 4-0 at home, as the Charleston defense has allowed no goals on their home field thus far this season.
Charleston will return to action on Sunday, September 15 to host West Georgia at Patriots Point for Senior Day. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC.
