HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team defeated Hofstra on Friday night 64-51 in their first road matchup of the weekend.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars started slow in the first frame, but outscored the Pride 20-6 in the second quarter to gain the lead.
• Falling behind nine points in the first quarter, a pair of three-point plays brought the deficit to three. Forcing a turnover with four minutes left in the second, Jazmyn Stone found the layup to give the Cougars the lead.
• Sophia Tougas ended the third quarter with a bucket beyond the arc, giving Charleston a 12-point lead heading into the final frame.
• CofC maintained their double-digit lead in the fourth to secure the win, supported by a 13-of-14 free throw performance in the final 10 minutes of play.

LEADING COUGARS

• McKinley Brooks-Sumpter tallied a game-high 18 points on the night, complimented by a perfect 10-of-10 performance at the charity stripe.
• Sophia Tougas added 15 points in the contest, downing five triples.
• Taylor Barbot also earned a double-digit performance with 13 points.
• Lara Rohkohl and Taryn Barbot both tallied 12 rebounds in the road win.
