Men's Soccer Heads North for Match Against Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team heads north for its final 2025 non-conference game as the Cougars are set for a matchup against the Winthrop Eagles at Eagle Field Tuesday, October 14 at 6:00 p.m.

MATCHUP HISTORY — The Cougars are 12-5 all-time against the Eagles and have won eight of the last 10 matchups between the two squads. On the road, Charleston holds a 4-3 record against Winthrop.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES — Winthrop is 1-9-1 during the 2025 season and has scored just five goals in 11 games. The Eagles lone win came in a 3-1 victory over Radford on October 4.  

STAT LEADERS — Ben Bagshaw leads the Cougars with five goals and 12 points. Stian Bendvold, Pavel Dashin, and Ezra White all have three assists on the year, and goalie Jourdan Schumacher has 38 saves during the 2025 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT Charleston enters the match 4-8-1 (1-3-1) following a 3-0 loss against North Florida at Patriots Point on Tuesday night.

North Florida pushed the pace and applied constant pressure as the Ospreys outshot the Cougars 22-11 and took six more corners than Charleston (7-1). North Florida got its first goal off a corner in the 30th minute before adding another in the 51st minute and the third and final goal with less than two minutes to play.

The Cougars saw chances from Ben Bagshaw, Stian Bendvold and Matt Lenert, but couldn't find the back of the net as the Ospreys won 3-0 at Patriots Point on Tuesday night.

UP NEXT — Charleston returns to Patriots Point for a Coastal Athletic Association matchup with Elon Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m. Saturday's game will also be senior day where nine Cougars will be honored prior to the contest.
