BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team defeated Campbell 2-1 on the road Saturday evening. With the win, Charleston moves to 6-2-2 overall and 2-2-1 in CAA play.

The Cougars got on the board first just five minutes into the contest when Henrik Boer fired a dagger shot just outside of the box after a Campbell defender blocked a similar shot from Hogan Walker.

Charleston added another goal less than ten minutes later when Michiharu Takanashi placed a pass perfectly to the foot of a sprinting Bemanzi Alibaruho for his second goal of the season in his first career start.

The Camels ended the potential shutout with a goal of their own just before the break to send the Cougars into the locker room up 2-1.

Takanashi almost provided the Cougars third goal of the evening with 25 minutes left to play but ultimately resulted in an offsides call instead against Charleston.

Despite wet and rainy conditions during much of the second half, the Cougars were able to hold on to the lead and secure three points in the conference action.

Campbell outshot Charleston 13-6 and took five corner kicks compared to zero for the Cougars. Boer led Charleston with two shots on the night.

The Cougars return home to face Furman on Tuesday, October 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
