CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team defeated Hofstra 1-0 Sunday, October 19 for the last home game of the regular season.
The match marked Charleston's second all-time win over Hofstra.
Charleston's record is now 8-6-2 overall with a 4-3-1 CAA record. With one regular season game left in the season, Charleston sits in third in the conference's South division ahead of Elon, Campbell, and Hampton.
To begin the first half,
Emma Wennar took the first two shot attempts of Charleston's eight.
Avery Nassetta and
Bella Antonio were quick to join Wennar on the stats sheet, both taking shots before the 20-minute mark.
Charleston took two corner kicks in the first half while the Pride found just one off-target shot.
Caroline Fowlkes checked in 63 minutes into the game and within a minute of her entering the match, she was able to create an opportunity for Wennar to score the lone goal of the afternoon and picked up the assist. Wennar's goal marks her fifth of the season and her 11th as a Cougar.
In the second half, Charleston took 5 shots and had one corner.
Ainsley Chunn made one save in goal.
Wennar took a game high five shots on the pitch with three on target.
