Men's Basketball Travels to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team travels to UNCW on Thursday, January 13 for a rematch with the Seahawks. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

STORYLINES
  • The Cougars are coming off a 88-83 overtime win over Elon on Saturday at TD Arena. Charleston went on a 6-0 overtime run to seal the victory, sinking 11-13 free throws in the extra frame. Ante Brzovic recorded his 16th career double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. Derrin Boyd added 24 points of his own, sixth time this season crossing the 20+ threshold. The Cougars also forced a season-high 19 turnovers.
  • Brzovic was named the CAA Player of the Week after averaging 23.7 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Cougars, shooting 51 percent from the floor (25-49 FG) in three 20+ point performances. He is the only player in the CAA to rank in the top ten in 19.0 points per game (3rd), 8.5 rebounds per game (2nd) and 3.1 assists per game (8th).
  • CJ Fulton leads the country in assist/turnover ratio, a stat he has led the nation in since January 11.
  • Rookie Justas Stonkus has started the last three contests for Charleston for his first career starts. The Lithuanian averaged 11.3 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 48% from the floor in the three-game stretch.
  • Four different Cougars are averaging double-figures - Brzovic (19.0), Boyd (14.3), Deywilk Tavarez (14.1), and Smith (11.4).
  • Eight of the previous nine meetings between the Seahawks and Cougars have been decided by single digits.
LAST TIME VS. THE SEAHAWKS
  • The Seahawks narrowly defeated the Cougars 85-83 on January 23 in Charleston. Boyd had a guarded look at the basket for a chance to win the game as time expired but fell just short of the comeback victory. UNCW led by as many as 11 points, but the Cougars pulled with a single possession seven different times in the second half. Boyd had a game-high 24 points going 4-7 from three-point range. AJ Smith (18), Brzovic (16), and Fulton (13) joined Boyd in double-figures.
  • UNCW outshot Charleston 53% to 44% from the field while the Cougars went 22-24 from the charity stripe.
