RIO GRANDE - The College of Charleston men's golf team shot their best round of the tournament on the final day of the Puerto Rico Classic, shooting a 7-under 281 round to secure 12th place.
Charleston sank 22 total birdies in the round, another high for the week.
Kieron van Wyk led the Cougars at T16 (-6), recording five birdies, followed by
Nevill Ruiter at T36 (-2). Ruiter's 69 in the final round ties van Wyk's first round score for the lowest Charleston round of the tournament.
Tim Bertenbreiter played a 2-under final round to finish T55 (+1).
The Cougars return to action on March 16 at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach.
