Charleston Walks off Dartmouth

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – Senior Dylan Johnson drove in both runs and had a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth as College of Charleston baseball beat Dartmouth, 2-1, Friday evening at Patriots Point.
 
The Cougars improve to 11-5 while the Big Green drop to 0-7.
 
Junior Jake Brink allowed Dartmouth's lone run across 7.2 innings, his longest outing through five starts. Redshirt junior Alex Lyon tossed 1.1 scoreless frames in relief, earning his third win of the season.

   
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST DARTMOUTH:
  • After a scoreless four and a half innings of baseball, Charleston drew first blood on Johnson's RBI double in the home half of the fifth.
  • Dartmouth leveled the game at one with an RBI groundout in the top of the seventh.
  • Brink allowed just one walk in the start while lowering his season ERA to 3.54.
  • Freshman Matthew Dominianni swiped his first career base in the seventh inning.
 
 
OF NOTE:
  • Charleston earned his first win in program history against Dartmouth.
  • The Cougars picked up their first nine inning walk off of the season and first since an 8-7 walk-off winner over Hofstra in the 2024 CAA Championship.
  • Johnson tallied his third multi-RBI game of the season.
  • With his appearance Friday, Lyon pitched in his 57th career game out of the bullpen, tying him with Josh McLaughlin (2005-06) and William Privette (2021-23) for ninth all-time in program history.
  • With Dominianni's stolen base, Charleston has had 11 different players swipe a bag, tying 2024's total.
  • CofC improves to 18-8 under head coach Chad Holbrook when tied after eight innings of play.
