COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two College of Charleston freshmen entered the school's outdoor record book at the Weems Baskin Invitational on Saturday in Columbia.
Caroline Cassidy highlighted the day by posting the fastest 400m hurdles time by a Cougar in seven years when her 1:02.90 moved her into third in school history while taking third place at the meet.
Jeorgi Gavalas finished the 3000m steeplechase in 11:42.44 and is 10th in the record book.
Emily Kreek moved up one spot to sixth in the 100m hurdles and qualified for the finals with a time of 14.97.
Gabby David earned a spot in the finals of the long jump and placed seventh with a top mark of 5.28m (17'4").
High jumper
Kinsley Allen (1.66m, 5'5 ¼") and pole vaulter
Madison Jent (3.75m, 12'3 ½") both finished second while
Savannah Stoutt was third in the 1500m (4:43.28). Charleston also took spots four through seventh in the 800m, including
Andie Harding (2:16.77),
Abby Mogg (2:19.44),
Katie O'Toole (2:21.20) and
Sydney Peer (2:21.85).
The Cougars are back in action next week at the Raleigh Relays.
