Taryn Barbot Reaches 1,000 Points as Cougars Advance to Super 16

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team advances to the Super 16 of the WNIT after defeating Howard 76-56 inside TD Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taryn Barbot started the scoring for the Cougars, knocking down a triple to eclipse 1,000 career points. Charleston went on to outscore Howard 19-8 in the first quarter to take the lead.
  • CofC grabbed 14 steals on the night, forcing 19 turnovers converted to 24 points. Four Cougars tallied double-digit scoring in the victory.
  • Charleston went 17-for-17 from the free throw line while outrebounding the Bison 47-38.
  • With the win, Charleston earns their 25th win on the season and earn their first postseason win on their home court.
LEADING COUGARS
  • Taryn Barbot led the scoring effort with 19 points on the night along with six rebounds and three steals. Tallying her 1,000th point, she becomes the first sophomore in program history to reach the milestone and the fastest of any men's or women's player to do so.
  • Lara Rohkohl tallied her tenth double-double of the season, adding 13 points and 12 rebounds to the contest.
  • Taylor Barbot also reached a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists. The sophomore guard neared triple-double status with seven rebounds.
  • McKinley Brooks-Sumpter proved dangerous midrange, knocking down 16 points on the night with eight rebounds.
UP NEXT
 
The Cougars will face Rutgers in the third round of the WNIT. Time, date and location are yet to be announced.
