MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener to Campbell, 12-7, Friday evening at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CAMPBELL:
- 13 runs were scored between both teams in the first three innings.
- Level at two in the home half of the first, freshman Alex LaCoste ripped a two-run double to the gap, giving the Cougars a 4-2 advantage.
- Sophomore Brent Gibbs started the second with a solo home run over the left field wall, his first collegiate long ball.
- Campbell scored eight unanswered over the final seven frames.
- Graduate Avery Neaves and senior Dariyan Pendergrass both scored two runs in the setback.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston slips to 14-17 all-time against Campbell.
- LaCoste made his collegiate debut, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, a double and hit by pitch.
- LaCoste also stole his first career base.
- Redshirt junior Alex Lyon tossed three innings of relief Friday and has recorded at least six outs in nine outings including the last four appearances.
- Neaves extended his streak of crossing the plate to six consecutive games.
