GREENSBORO, N.C. – Savannah Stoutt earned all-conference honors in the 3000m steeplechase, and
Jeorgi Gavalas set a school record in the 1500m to lead the College of Charleston track and field team at the CAA Championships.
Stoutt finished second in the steeplechase with a time of 10:33.84 to lower her PR and come less than a second away from Carlee Cassidy's school record. Stoutt is the fourth Cougar to earn a spot on the all-conference team in the event, joining Kristen Wolfe (SoCon) and Cassidy and Tess Masselink (CAA).
Gavalas turned in a mark of 4:25.79 in the 1500m to break the record set by
Rhian Purves last spring by almost two seconds. Gavalas contributed points for the Cougars by finishing fourth and ran eight seconds faster than her mark of 4:33.82 in the prelims.
Abby Mogg lowered her PR in the 800m with a time of 2:15.34 which keeps her in eighth place in school history. Mogg finished just ahead of
Andie Harding, who ran a 2:15.50.
Katie O'Toole joined Gavalas in the 1500m and had a season-best time of 4:42.62.
