MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball won its ninth straight ballgame with a 6-2 victory over Hofstra Friday afternoon at Patriots Point.

The Cougars (34-19, 15-11 CAA) match their best win streak last season, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead. Redshirt junior
Daniel Brooks allowed one run over six innings of work, striking out five batters in the no decision.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST HOFSTRA:
- After a scoreless three and a half frames, senior Tyler Sorrentino extended his hitting streak to 13 games with an RBI double before scoring on a wild pitch for a 2-0 Cougar lead.
- Hofstra later leveled the game at two following an RBI single in the fifth and solo home run in the seventh.
- Four Cougars tallied two hits Friday, including freshman Landon Penfield, who's RBI double in the seventh plated the eventual game winner.
- Senior Dylan Johnson hit Charleston's second straight double, plating Penfield to double CofC's advantage.
- The Cougars tacked on a pair of insurance markers later in the frame following a fielding error by Hofstra.
- Charleston was hit three times in the win, giving the team 74 hit by pitches this season.

- Charleston improves to 21-11 all-time versus Hofstra and 16-2 at home.
- CofC extended its winning streak to nine games, where the Cougars are outscoring opponents 82-28.
- Charleston's 74 hit by pitches are the most in a campaign since the Cougars were hit 92 times in 2010.
- Charleston won its ninth game in the month of May, the fifth consecutive season with at least nine victories.
- The Cougars clubbed six doubles in the win, matching their season high.
- Brooks has allowed exactly four hits in each of his last four starts.
- Charleston's pitching staff held opponents to two-or-fewer runs for the 15th time Friday.
