MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost a 16-15 slugfest to Hofstra Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.

Freshman
Landon Penfield launched two homers, including a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the eighth, as the Cougars finished the regular season 34-20 and 15-12 in the CAA.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST HOFSTRA:
- CofC jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after scoring three runs in each of the first and second innings.
- Hofstra used a seven-run fourth to take an 8-6 advantage before scoring six in the seventh to extend its lead 15-7.
- Charleston came back in the home half of the eighth, plating seven runs.
- Penfield capped off the frame with a grand slam, tying the ballgame at 15.
- Senior Dariyan Pendergrass tied his career high with four runs scored, launching his fourth homer of the campaign in the fifth.
- Pendergrass also began the game with two stolen bases, giving him 39 on the year.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 21-12 all-time versus Hofstra and 16-3 at home.
- Penfield is the second Cougar to have a multi-homer game, joining fellow freshman Alex LaCoste.
- Pendergrass' 39 stolen bases surpassed Brett Gardner's (2005) 38 bags for third all-time in a season in school history.
- Charleston drew 12 walks Saturday, tied for the second-most in a contest this season.

Charleston will play in the opening round of the 2025 CAA Baseball Championship on Wednesday, May 21. Game time and opponent will be determined following the conclusion of the regular season.
