CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST WILLIAM & MARY:
- Junior Jake Brink kept the William & Mary bats silent, allowing just five hits and a walk across the seven scoreless innings.
- Scoreless in the first, Charleston plated runs in the remaining frames.
- Leading 1-0 in the third, senior Dylan Johnson launched a no-doubt two-run shot over the left field wall for the 3-0 advantage.
- The Cougars made it a 5-0 ballgame in the fourth courtesy of an RBI triple from freshman Alex LaCoste and sacrifice bunt from senior Ben Venables to bring home LaCoste.
- Charleston broke the game open in the fifth with five runs.
- Redshirt junior Ethan Plyler led off the frame with a solo shot to center before freshman Landon Penfield went back-to-back with a solo homer of his own.
- CofC tacked on three more runs in the frame, making it 10-0, and putting the run rule in effect.
- Avery Neaves' two run blast in the sixth gave Charleston their most runs scored in a CAA Tournament game.
- Brink sat down 11 of the final 13 batters to secure the shutout win.
Â
