
Cougar Soccer Travels to Texas for Weekend Matchups

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The College of Charleston women's soccer will start their weekend trip to Texas in Houston to compete against Houston Christian Thursday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. ET.
Charleston tied High Point Sunday August 24 on the road. Senior Emma Wennar made the first goal of the game in the 22' minute. Wennar took seven shots with one on goal. Goalkeeper for the Cougars, Ainsley Chunn, held off High Point for 76 minutes before the Panthers equalized the game.
The Cougars are now 0-1-1 on the season.
Houston Christian is 2-2 on the 2025 season. The Huskies hold one home win over Grambling, winning 1-0. Houston Christian fell at Rice and Abilene Christian while scoring one goal against Rice.
The Huskies have been to the NCAA Tournament twice with their most recent appearance in 2016 where they lost in the first round to No. 1 ranked Stanford.
Thursday's matchup will record the first time CofC and Houston Christian will meet.
Following Thursday's game, the Cougars will remain in Texas and travel to Austin to meet Texas for the second all-time matchup between the programs. The match is set for Sunday August 31 with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. ET.
The Cougars will return home next week playing No. 19 ranked Wake Forest September 4. The home match will be welcome back students themed, featuring a 40" smart TV giveaway. Admission is free.
