Cougars Drop CAA Opener at Elon

ELON, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team fell 1-0 in CAA play at Elon on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Charleston moves to 1-4 on the year.
After a defensive heavy first half, the teams entered the locker room tied 0-0. The Phoenix attempted seven shots compared to five from the Cougars.
Elon broke through 15 minutes into the second half on a 1-on-1 opportunity to take the 1-0 lead.
The Cougars had three more shot opportunities in the frame but could not connect, dropping their first conference game of the season.
Charleston attempted eight corner kicks, six in the second half, compared to five total for Elon. Elon outshot Charleston12-9.
Ben Bagshaw led the Cougars with two shots on goal followed by Ben Baldwin with one.
Charleston returns to action on Tuesday, September 9 when the Cougars host USC Upstate at Patriots Point. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. The contest will serve as Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night for College of Charleston employees.
