
Charleston Set to Face Towson

Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team is set to face Towson on Sunday, October 11, in Towson, Md. Â
The Cougars are coming off back-to-back CAA victories after defeating Hampton 4-1 on Sunday, October 4, and Drexel 3-0 on Thursday, October 8. Â
Scoring in the match against Drexel opened in the 22nd minute, when Bella Antonio sent the ball to the top of the net after a deflection off the Dragon goalkeeper. Â
Sienna Ward doubled Charleston's lead in the 54th minute, winning the one-on-one with the Drexel defender and firing a shot in the top corner of the net to give the Cougars the 2-0 advantage.Â
Antonio struck again in the 70th minute, heading in a service from Sienna Petro to put Charleston up 3-0. Â
Ainsley Chunn faced seven shots, collecting two saves and allowing no goals to secure the shutout.Â
Antonio's performance in the match earned the senior her 10th goal of the season, placing her tied for second-most goals scored by a Cougar in a single season in program history. The last Cougar to reach the mark was Laura Ortega in 2018. Â
Antonio sits at the top of the CAA this season in goals with 10, points with 23, and is tied for most game-winning goals with four.Â
Charleston has an overall record of 5-6-3 and is 2-2-1 in CAA play. Â
The match against Towson will feature the 12th meeting in program history between the Cougars and the Tigers. Towson holds the 4-2-5 advantage over Charleston in the all-time series.Â
The Tigers are 6-5-2 this year and 3-2 in conference play after falling 2-1 to UNCW on Thursday, October 8.Â
