DALLAS – College of Charleston reliever Alex Lyon was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-America Third Team, the association announced Friday.
Selected to the Preseason All-CAA team earlier in the week, Lyon enters the 2026 campaign following a record book 2025 season. The submariner went 10-1 with a 3.47 ERA in 59.2 frames across 31 appearances. Lyon's 31 outings rank fourth in program history in a single season while his 10 victories and .909 winning percentage is good for sixth and eighth, respectively. 18 of his relief appearances saw him record at least six outs, including a career-high 5.0 innings of scoreless ball April 27 vs UNCW. A native of Columbia, S.C., Lyon's 78 career relief outings and 1.46 walks allowed per nine innings are both third in school history.
Charleston's 36th season begins next Friday, Feb. 13, versus Rutgers. First pitch on Opening Day at Patriots Point is slated for 4 p.m.
Single game tickets with the exclusion of the March 17 Clemson contest are now available for purchase by visiting cofcsports./tickets or by calling the Ticket Office at (843) 953-2632.
