
Cougars Take Down Bulldogs; Earn Fifth Straight Victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (5-3) earned its fifth straight win with a 6-1 home victory over Samford (7-5) at the Turner Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Charleston took an early 1-0 lead as the Cougars won courts one and three in doubles. Sia Cariov and Francesca Salvato swept court one, while Jaiden McKee and Saige Severance earned a sweep in slot No. 3. The Cougars were trailing 4-3 on court two when Charleston clinched the doubles point.
In singles, Oziera Ahmad quickly put the Cougars up 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 sweep on court two, while Jaiden McKee increased CofC's advantage to 3-0 with her own 6-3, 6-4 two set win in position No. 4.
Sia Cariov then clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph on the No. 1 court. Samford won court three, but Olivia Bull swept her opponent on court six (7-5, 6-1) and Marra Bruce earned a 6-4, 6-7, 10-2 win on court five to make the final 6-1 in favor of the Cougars.
