CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (5-4) fell 4-2 to Gonzaga (8-6) at the Turner Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

Charleston took an early 1-0 lead as the Cougars won courts one and three in doubles. Sia Cariov and Francesca Salvato earned a 6-4 win on court one, while Jaiden McKee and Saige Severance earned a 6-3 victory in slot No. 3.

Gonzaga opened singles play with straight set wins on courts one, four and six as the Bulldogs took a 3-1 advantage.

After a first set loss in slot No. 2, Oziera Ahmad battled back and won her next two sets 6-3, 6-1 to bring the Cougars within one. Gonzaga then clinched the match with three set triumph on court five.

Court three went unfinished and the Bulldogs won the contest 4-2 on Friday afternoon.
