Women's Tennis Set for Three Matches at the Turner Tennis Center

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston women's tennis team is set to host three matches at the Turner Tennis Center this week.
The Cougars first take on Samford on Tuesday afternoon, before battling Gonzaga on Friday and facing off in a CAA matchup against William & Mary on Saturday morning.
What an incredible week of tennis coming up at the Turner Tennis Center, Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo said. We'll start with a well coached, talented and gritty Samford team that we saw in our fall tournament. Then we'll take on Gonzaga who will be the farthest a team to ever travel to play the Cougars in Charleston. Needless to say, we don’t know much about them other than they have had an impressive start to the season. Then the week ends with our CAA opener with William and Mary. William and Mary is consistently the best or one of the best teams in the conference. We always have great matches with them, and I’m sure this match will be no different.

MATCHUP HISTORY VS. SAMFORD — Since 2008, Charleston is 14-2 against Samford. The Cougars defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 last March.
SCOUTING SAMFORD — The Bulldogs are 7-4 and this year, but are coming off a pair of losses as Samford fell to South Alabama and Lipscomb in their last two matches.
MATCHUP HISTORY VS. GONZAGA — This will be the first ever matchup between Charleston and Gonzaga.
SCOUTING GONZAGA — The Bulldogs are 6-6 this year and are coming off a 4-0 sweep against Montana State. Gonzaga will face Samford at the Turner Tennis Center on Wednesday before its match with Charleston.
MATCHUP HISTORY VS. WILLIAM & MARY — Charleston is 4-10 all-time against William & Mary. The Tribe won the last matchup between the schools by a final of 5-2 last March.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE — The Tribe are 8-3 this year and are 2-0 in CAA play with wins over Towson and Drexel. William & Mary will face UNCW on Thursday before the matchup with Charleston on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT – The Cougars won their fourth straight match with a narrow 4-3 win over the Buffalo Bulls at the Turner Tennis Center on Friday, March 6.
UP NEXT – CofC will be back in action on Tuesday, March 17 for a home CAA matchup against Towson. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
