CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (6-5, 1-1) earned a 6-1 victory over Towson (6-7, 0-3) at the Turner Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
"Today was a great win over a much improved Towson team," Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo said. "It's a great feeling to get our first CAA win of the year."
Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle teamed up to win court two 6-3, while Jaiden McKee and Saige Severance earned a 6-2 win in slot No. 3 to clinch the doubles point for the Cougars.
Riley Trinkle opened singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win on court six to put CofC up 2-0. Jaiden McKee then defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2 in slot No. 4 before Oziera Ahmad clinched the match for Charleston with a 6-4, 6-2 sweep on court two.
Sia Cariov earned another point for the Cougars with a 6-1, 7-6 (6) triumph on court one.
Towson got a point with a win on court five, but Francesca Salvato made the final score 6-1 in favor of the Cougars with a hard fought 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (8) win on the No. 3 court.
