
Charleston Defeats N.C. A&T, Earns Fourth CAA Victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (10-6, 4-2) cruised through singles en route to a 5-2 win over N.C. A&T (6-3, 1-1) at the Turner Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, Charleston won the first four singles courts, without dropping a set, to quickly clinch the match.
Oziera Ahmad and Riley Trinkle won court two, but the Aggies earned victories on courts one and three to win the doubles point.
Sia Cariov got the Cougars on the board with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win on court one before Riley Trinkle gave CofC the lead with her own two-set win in slot No. 6 (6-1, 6-3).
Oziera Ahmad got Charleston its third point with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win in slot No. 2, while Marra Bruce clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 victory on court five. Saige Severance split her first two sets before cruising to a 10-2 victory in a third set tiebreak to give the Cougars their fifth point.
N.C. A&T won court three in a third set tiebreak to make the final score 5-2 in favor of the Cougars.
