
Charleston Defeats UNCW on Senior Day

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (15-7, 6-2) earned a 5-2 win over UNCW (10-5, 5-2) at the Turner Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
UNCW won the first doubles court, but Senior Jaiden McKee and Saige Severance got the Cougars on the board with a dominant 6-2 win on court three. Oziera Ahmand and Riley Trinkle then earned a 6-3 win in the No. 2 slot to clinch the doubles point and give CofC a 1-0 lead.
Sia Cariov opened singles with a convincing 6-1, 6-3 win on the No. 1 court to put Charleston in front 2-0. From there, Marra Bruce got the Cougars their third point with a pair of 6-2 wins on court five before Riley Trinkle swept court six (6-4, 6-2) to clinch the match for CofC.
After the Cougars clinched the match, the Seahawks won third set tiebreaks on courts two and three to give them two points.
On her senior day, Jaiden McKee battled back from a first set loss to get her second win of the day. McKee earned a 6-4 triumph in the second set and a 10-6 victory in the third set tiebreak to give the Cougars their fifth point and make the final score 5-2 in favor of Charleston.

UP NEXT – The Cougars will wait and see what the rest of their season holds. The CAA Tournament field will be voted on by a committee and the six-team field will be announced on Monday, April 13.
