
Women’s Soccer to Host USC Upstate

Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team is set to host USC Upstate on Sunday, August 16 at 6:00pm at Patriots Point.
The Cougars enter the contest 1-0, after an action filled 3-1 win over Southern Utah on Wednesday.
In the match against the Thunderbirds, Charleston started behind when Southern Utah scored in the 12th minute to put the Cougars down 0-1. Kassy Uzelman quickly tied it up with a solo goal in the 31st minute, marking the first of the freshman's career.
Senior Bella Antonio tied it up with a header on the cross by Mary Martin Spinner to put Charleston ahead 2-1 at the half. In the second half, Antonio scored her second goal of the match on a penalty kick, marking her third career brace, and securing the win for the Cougars.
The Cougars seek their second straight win of the season on Sunday, with the contest being the season opener for the Spartans. In the 2025 season, the Spartans finished 10-6-3 overall. This will be the first season for Upstate under new head coach, Sam Odell. The Spartans return few players, bringing in over 20 newcomers.
The match will mark the fifth meeting in program history between Charleston and USC Upstate, with Charleston holding a 2-0-2 record against the Spartans.
Admission to the match is free, and will also feature a College of Charleston prize pack raffle at half time.
