College of Charleston men’s basketball alumnus Jermaine Blackmon Jr. (’19) is in his second season at his alma mater serving as Video Coordinator.
Blackmon Jr. was previously a two-year student manager for the Cougars, before earning a spot on the team as a walk-on player during his junior and senior years at The College.
“I’m really excited that Jermaine will be joining our coaching staff,” CofC Head Coach Earl Grant said. “He started as a student manager and then he was promoted as a walk-on after his sophomore year. Jermaine has a great understanding of Charleston Basketball and will be a great asset to our staff and our players.”
During the 2018-19 season, Blackmon Jr. served as bench captain. He played in four career games and was a member of the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Championship and NCAA Tournament squad.
A 2019 graduate of the College of Charleston, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. Blackmon Jr. is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and during the summer months works College of Charleston Basketball Camps along with the Joe Chealey Basketball Camp.
Originally from Charlotte, N.C., Blackmon Jr. was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and golf at Davidson Day School in Davidson, N.C. He helped lead the Patriots to a 25-6 overall record during his senior year of high school. The team also reached the state quarterfinals three times during his prep career.
