Kelvin Long enters his third season in 2018 as an Assistant Coach with the College of Charleston women’s basketball program, serving as both a coach and recruiting coordinator for head coach Candice Jackson.

Prior to his arrival at The College, Long spent two seasons at cross-town rival Charleston Southern as an assistant coach in Fred Applin’s system.

Prior to CSU, Long accrued five years experience as a women’s basketball assistant in the Atlantic Sun Conference, having spent the 2012-13 season at Kennesaw State University and the four years leading up to that at East Tennessee State. As a member of ETSU, Long helped guide the Buccaneers to three straight conference titles (08, 09, 10) by way of a 56-22 (.718) clip against conference opponents, and also picked up the 2010 regular season championship.

Under Long's tutelage, ETSU's guards Siarre Evans and TaRonda Wiles were named A-Sun Conference Co-Players of the Year in 2010. The pair also was tabbed unanimous First Team All-Conference selections, and selected to the A-Sun All-Tournament team after the Buccaneers captured the tournament title. Evans won the A-Sun scoring and rebounding titles in 2008-09 en route to becoming Conference Player of the Year and a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) State Farm Coaches' All-American finalist.

Long also mentored Destiny Mitchell, a two-time second team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection.  As a sophomore, Mitchell led East Tennessee State in scoring (12.2 PPG), rebounds (8.9 RPG) and steals (41).

A Knoxville, Tenn., Long received his master's degree in sport management from ETSU in December, 2010, and his undergraduate degree from Tennessee in May, 2004. Long is married to the former Sharon Dunn and the couple have two daughters, Nakiya (12) and Jayah (8 months).
