Jason Grimes serves as the Associate Director of Athletics for Business and Finance at the College of Charleston, where he leads all aspects of the department’s financial operations. His responsibilities include strategic budgeting, long-range forecasting, financial reporting, and operational planning in alignment with both the Athletics Department and University Business Affairs.
Prior to Charleston, Grimes spent over five years at American University, rising to Assistant Athletics Director for Business. He managed department-wide financial operations and served as sport administrator for wrestling. He also played a key role on the capital project team responsible for designing and programming a new wrestling and volleyball competition arena. During the 2020–21 season, he served as interim head wrestling coach and guided two student-athletes to NCAA Championship qualification.
Before joining American’s athletics department, Grimes worked on campus in both the Office of General Counsel and the University Finance Office, gaining valuable experience in higher education law, compliance, and institutional finance.
A former student-athlete, Grimes competed for American University’s wrestling program, where he was an NCAA qualifier and earned Academic All-EIWA honors in 2016–17. He graduated in 2017 ranked among the program’s all-time leaders in single-season and career pins.
