MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener Friday evening to Stony Brook, 3-1, at Patriots Point.
With the loss, the Cougars slip to 7-10 overall and 2-2 in the CAA while Stony Brook improves to 3-12 and 2-2 in league play.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST STONY BROOK:
- Stony Brook jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first before tacking on a pair of insurance markers in the sixth.
- Charleston chipped into the lead in the home half of the sixth when Dylan Johnson brought home freshman Jake Amman with a sacrifice fly.
- Freshman Carter Harrington tossed five innings in the loss, yielding an unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out three.
- Redshirt sophomore Ryan Hench tossed two scoreless frames out of the Cougar bullpen, fanning two Seawolves.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 8-2 against Stony Brook in the all-time series.
- Amman had his fourth multi-hit game of the year with two knocks Friday.
- Hench appeared in his team-best ninth ballgame out of the bullpen, lowering his ERA to 0.87 in the process.
