Geoff Christman's goal in the 81st minute lifted the Appalachian State Mountaineers to a 2-1 victory over the College of Charleston in men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.
After playing a scoreless first half, Matt Schindelholz fired a shot by Appalachian State goalkeeper Chris Robinson at the 50:59 to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Frederik Henriksen's goal in the 53rd minute knotted the game at a goal a piece to set up Christman's game winner off a corner kick from Jordy Broder.
The Cougars drop to 2-6-1 overall and 2-3 in the Southern Conference while Appalachian State improves to 7-4-0 overall and 2-3 in SoCon play.
The Mountaineers return to action on October 16, at The Citadel, and the College of Charleston travels to Columbia, S.C., to battle Rutgers on October 19.
