CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team will travel to host UNCW on Saturday, September 20 for the Cougars' third league match of the season.
Originally set for the UNCW Soccer Stadium, the match has been moved to nCino Sports Park (Field #6) and will start at 5:00 p.m. Admission to the game will be free and supporters are asked to bring their own chairs to watch the game. The game will not be streamed, fans are encouraged to follow along with live stats.
The Cougars are coming off a 1-0 win over No. Furman on Sept. 17.
Noah Gold netted his first goal of the season with just two minutes remaining in the first half on a free kick to give the Charleston the decisive edge. In the second half, goalkeeper
Jourdan Schumacher anchored the defense with three saves, securing his fourth shutout of the season.
The win over Furman was the program's second top 15 win of the season after previously topping then No. 15 North Carolina 2-0 at home on September 1. Both wins were a defensive clinic for the Cougars, resulting in shutouts.
UNCW enters the matchup 1-2-2 on the year, averaging nearly 19 shots per game while limiting opponents to just 30 total attempts across five matches. They most recently tied No. 1 Wake Forest 3-3 on Tuesday night.
This will be the first of two meetings between the Cougars and Seahawks this season. The teams last met in Wilmington on October 5, 2024 with the Seahawks securing the 2-1 victory.
Matt Lenert scored the lone goal for Charleston. UNCW holds the 9-4-4 all-time series advantage. Charleston has not defeated UNCW since 2017.
