Fifth seeded College of Charleston edged fourth seeded Appalachian State 2-1 in overtime in game four of the Gift of Life/Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship at the College of Charleston Athletic Complex at Patriots Point.
Jeff Files broke the scoreless tie at the 54:52 mark when he blasted a goal after his first shot rebounded off the goal post to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Appalachian State answered at the 63:10 mark when Jordy Broder made a bicycle kick shot off a rebounded ball to tie the game at 1-1.
The two teams played to overtime before the College of Charleston's Ricardo Diaz Granados headed a ball past the far post off a cross from Sage Martina to give the Cougars a 2-1 win.
College of Charleston (6-10-1) advances to the semifinals for the fourth straight year to face Furman on Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 pm. Appalachian State ends its season with a 9-8 record.
