The Tigers took the lead in the first half when Andre Borges' corner kick was tapped by Paul Souders right to Carlton Hughes who blasted one into the bottom right corner of the net. The game started under a bright sunny day but as the first half went along the weather worsened and play was suspended with 26:11 remaining due to lightning.
The Cougars had a chance to tie the game up with just under 25 minutes left in the second half when Hollingsworth passed the ball to Ricardo Diaz Granados who headed the shot just high of the cross bar.
CofC capitalized on another opportunity to knot the game up with less than 20 minutes left. Troy Lesesne knocked one in to the box and Hollingsworth headed one over just over the reach of Tiger goalkeeper Jarrett Lewis for the game evening score.
The Cougars out shot the ninth ranked Tigers 7-4 in the draw including 6-0 in the second half. Today's game marked the second consecutive Sunday on which CofC has taken on a nationally ranked program in an exhibition game. Last Sunday the Cougars fell to sixteenth ranked North Carolina 2-1.
The 2003 regular season gets underway for the Cougars on August 30 at Davidson and the team's next home match is slated for September 5 versus Richmond.
