College of Charleston's Scott Milroth scored two goals to propel the men's soccer team to the 2-1 win over Bucknell in the opening game of the adidas/USC Gamecock Classic this evening at Eugene Stone Stadium in Columbia, SC.
After a scoreless first half Bucknell's Scott Visnic scored from eight yards out at 61:38 off the Joe Mellot assist to take the lead. Just under two minutes later Milroth took the ball from just inside the 6-yard box past the goalkeeper to tie the game at 62:59. 15 minutes later it was Milroth again who hit the back of the net from 15 yards out on the left at 77:52 to take the Cougar up for good. George Grygar picked up the assist in the first goal, while Tony Myers picked it up in the second one.
Charleston improves to 2-1 overall, while Bucknell drops to 0-1-1.
The Cougars out-shot Bucknell 19-13 with Bucknell coming away with the 9-4 edge in saves.
The College of Charleston continues tournament action Sunday, Sept. 12, when it takes on 1tth-ranked Portland in a noon contest. Bucknell takes on USC in the second game of the day at 2:30.
