The College of Charleston women's tennis team fell to Charlotte, 4-3, this afternoon at the tennis center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
The Cougars drop to 5-4, while the 49ers improve to 6-1 on the year.
Charlotte opened play by winning the doubles point with the 8-3 win at number one and the 8-5 win at number three. It would turn out to be a crucial point as both teams split the singles 3-3.
Charleston took victories at numbers one, two and five singles, with Charlotte winning at number three, four and six singles. Gabriela Moreira's 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Ofra Friedman at number two singles was her fifth in a row this season. She is 5-1 at the number two spot this year.
The Cougars host Southern Conference foe Appalachian State Sunday at 12:00 PM, while the 49ers travel to the upstate to take on Furman Mar. 16th in Greenville, SC. The match is set to start at 2:00 PM.
