Darren Toby scored with just six minutes to play to send the College of Charleston men's soccer team to the 1-0 win over Brown in Conway, S.C. at the Coastal Carolina/adidas Invitational.
The Cougars improved to 4-3-1, while the Bears dropped to 3-3 on the year.
The College of Charleston was out-shot 17-2 in the game, including 12-2 in the second half but it was CofC's Toby that found the back of the net, scoring the only goal at 84:18. Matt Curran picked up the assist, as he crossed the ball into the front of the net, setting up the header by Toby.
Charleston's Hunter Gilstrap picked up six saves, compared to David Semenza, who had one save for Brown. The Bears held the 13-0 advantage in corner kicks. Aside from Toby's shot and goal, Matt Curran picked up the other CofC shot of the night. Bears Ben Brackett and Scott Geppert paced the team with four shots each.
The College of Charleston plays Coastal Carolina at 5:00 PM Sunday, while Brown plays VCU at 12:30 PM. Both games will be held in Conway, S.C., as part of the tournament.
