Lance Finishes Up Indoor Season, Awaits Shot At Nationals

Senior Kosha Lance wrapped up the final Indoor Track and Field meet of her career with a fourth place finish in the Weight Throw at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Virginia Tech. Lance is hopeful of an invitation to the NCAA National Championships.
The NCAA selection committee will take the top 16 performers nationally in the women's 20-pound weight throw with Lance sitting just a few spots out of the top 16 at number 22.
For Lance, a senior out of Georgetown, S.C., the decision to come back for her final year has made all the difference for the Cougars as they look to build a solid foundation for the future of the Track and Field program.
"Her decision to come back as a fifth-year senior has had a tremendous effect on our team," said head coach Amy Schuckert. "She is a great leader, on and off the track, and we, as a program, are very excited about not only the possibility of making the NCAA's we are also very excited about the upcoming outdoor season."
The selection committee will announce their decision Monday with several of the top performers also competing in the shot put competition. The decision of whether or not will also fall on the performers who may choose to skip the weight throw in favor of the shot put. If this happens Lance may get a chance at the championships held at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville March 10th-11th.
