CofC Competes Well At Duke Asics Invitational

The College of Charleston Track & Field team competed at the 2006 Duke Asics Invitational in Durham, N.C. with Kosha Lance, Wells Trompeter, and Summer Chambless notching the highest finishes for the Cougars and the 4x400 relay team setting a new school record.
The relay team of Carla Washington, Emily Jackson, Katrina Taylor, and Courtney Williams recorded a time of 4:04.72 in the 4x400 relay breaking the old school record by over two seconds.
Lance finished sixth out of 36 competitors in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 160 feet and nine inches. Trompeter finished 13th in the 1,500 meter run finishing ahead of 66 other competitors with a time of 4:54.85. Chambless finished tied for 15th in the pole vault as she reached a mark of 10 feet and six inches.
Lance competed in the discus throw earning a top 25 finish with a mark of 115 feet and 10 inches. Trompeter also competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase finishing with a time of 12:03.71. Chambless added a mark of 78 feet and three inches in the javelin throw.
Clare Goodwin had solid performances in the javelin and in the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 79 feet and six inches and a time of 1:09.37 respectively. Dominique Boone continued her solid senior campaign as she notched a mark of 35 feet and ten inches in the triple jump and a mark of five feet and one inch in the high jump.
