College of Charleston basketball coach Bobby Cremins announced Wednesday that center Josh Jackson has decided to transfer and will not return for the 2007-08 season.
“I'm sorry to lose Josh (Jackson),” said Cremins, who led Charleston to a 22-11 record in his first season. “He was an important part of our team's success this year. However, this is in Josh's best interest to pursue other opportunities.”
Jackson (6-8, 255, junior in 2006-07) played in 28 games last season and averaged 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The Aiken, S.C. native hit 57.5 percent of his field goals (111-for-193) and 62.0 percent (31-of-50) of his free throws.
