BOONE, N.C. ? The College of Charleston men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Appalachian State in Southern Conference action on Wednesday night. The match was the first in conference play for both teams on the year.
With the loss, the Cougars fall to 6-4-0 overall, 0-1-0 in the SoCon, while Appalachian State improves to 6-3-0 (1-0-0 in the SoCon).
In the first period, Appalachian State got on the board in the 20th minute, when Antonio Harley scored his second goal of the year off a corner from Chris Treible. The Mountaineers went into the half leading 1-0, despite the fact that the Cougars out shot them 7-4 in the period.
In the second half, Treible scored a goal in the 75th minute off an assist from Lee Rutter to make the score 2-0. The Mountaineers put the match away in the 81st minute when Alvaro Yusty scored off another assist from Treible.
For the Cougars, Jake Helmig led the way, recording four shots on the night.
The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4th, when they host Davidson. The match is set to start at 4 p.m. at Patriots Point.
