
The Citadel Downs Charleston, 13-1

Richard Jones and Bryan Altman homered and freshman pitcher Asher Wojciechowski struck out nine over six innings leading The Citadel to a 13-1 win over the College of Charleston in non-conference baseball action before 2,545 at Joe Riley Park on Tuesday.
Charleston, which plays at Winthrop at 6 p.m on Wednesday, fell to 10-4. The Bulldogs improved to 10-3. There was a 1-hour, 19-minute rain delay in the seventh inning.
A run-scoring single by Sonny Meade, a bases loaded walk to Chris McGuiness and Matt Arnold's sacrifice fly to left staked the Bulldogs to a 3-0 first inning lead.
Charleston's lone run came when Jeremie Tice homered to left center with two outs in the second inning that cut Citadel's advantage to 3-1.
Citadel answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 7-1 lead capped by Arnold's second sacrifice fly of the game. Brad Felder added an RBI single in the fifth inning that scored Arnold from second base.
Jones' homer to center leading off the sixth was his fourth of the season and gave the Bulldogs a 9-1 lead. Altman blasted his third homer of the season one out later. Chris Swauger added a two-run doube as part of The Citadel's three-run seventh inning.
Wojciechowski (2-0) allowed only one run on just three hits with four walks. Charleston starter Clay Caulfield (2-1) suffered the loss.
