
CofC Produces 14 top 10 Finishes in WCU Invitational

Isabel Boersma and Brynne Johnson snapped the school record of 16.98 for the 100-meter hurdles, with Boersman placing fourth with a 16.13 and Johnson finishing fifth with a 16.54. Kirsten Schumy also competed in the event, finishing eighth with a time of 17.99.
Earning a sixth-place in the 200-meter dash was Mary Zolga with a time of 26.95. Emily Jackson also turned in a top 10 finish in the event, finishing ninth with a 27.58.
Cara Browning placed fifth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 20:50.41, while Schumy took home fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:11.47.
The Cougars competed in the 4X100-meter relay and the 4X400-meter relay with the team finishing fifth in the 4X100 (50.62) and second in the 4X400 (4:06.20).
In the field events, it was Summer Chambless clearing 3.4 meters for second in the pole vault and Jessica Cumbee clearing 2.95 meters for fifth. Johnson was second in the long jump with 5.09 meters and Boersma was fifth with 4.77 meters.
Boersma finished 10th in the shot put with a distance of 8.98 meters, and ninth in the javelin with a distance of 24.89 meters.
