
Men's Soccer battles to scoreless tie with Central Florida

The College of Charleston men's soccer team ended the exhibition portion of their schedule by battling to a 0-0 tie with Central Florida on Sunday through 90 minutes.
Both squads would go on to play another 45-minute period, in which the Cougars would outscore UCF 2-1.
In the first 90 minutes, both teams fired 12 shots on goal. Charleston goalie Brendan Smith saved seven shots to preserve the shutout.
In the extra frame, UCF's Andres Marmol got his team on the board with a goal; however Kareem Yearwood of Charleston countered with a goal of his own to knot the game up at one. Zach Prince and Wes Knight were both credited with an assist on Yearwood's goal.
With less that a minute to play in the final period, Prince scored the go-ahead goal to give the Cougars a 2-1 advantage in the final period.
The Cougars will open their 2008 regular season on Friday, August 29th when they take on Marshall at the adidas Soccer Classic in Davidson, N.C. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
