CHARLESON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team continues their eight-match road trip this weekend, as they travel to Pennsylvania to take on Lehigh and Bucknell. The match with Lehigh begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17th, while the matchup with Bucknell will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19th.
The Cougars, who are 5-0 on the season and are ranked 24th in the latest CollegeSoccerNews.com National Top 30, won their second tournament championship in as many weeks last weekend at the Furman Diadora/Spinx Invitational after they defeated North Florida (3-0) and Florida Gulf Coast (2-1 in overtime).
Freshman Francis Twohig (St. Simons Island, Ga.) was named the Southern Conference's Men's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring the game-winner in overtime against Florida Gulf Coast. Twohig's selection marked the second straight week that a Charleston player earned the SoCon Player of the Week honor, as John Bello (Lake Mary Fla.) won the award last week.
Lehigh comes into their match with the Cougars posting a 2-2-1 overall record. The Mountain Hawks were a 5-1 winner over Delaware in their last match on Tuesday. In Lehigh's first match of the season, they knocked off Stanford.
Bucknell, comes into their match with the Cougars sporting a 4-1 record. The Bison shutout Syracuse in their last match, earning a 1-0 win this past Sunday. They have allowed just four goals in their first five matches, two of which came in their only loss of the year against New Hampshire.
All-time, the Cougars are 1-0 against Bucknell, winning the only meeting between the schools in 2004, 2-1. Charleston is 0-1 against Lehigh, as they fell 2-1 to the Mountain Hawks in 2002 in their only previous meeting.
