CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 51-ranked Clemson defeated the College of Charleston men's tennis team, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
The Cougars (1-1) made the Tigers (8-2) earn each point extending two singles matches into three sets at the No. 3 and No. 6 positions and won one of three doubles matches on the day.
Junior Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium) and sophomore Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va.), a transfer from James Madison, topped Clemson's Cal Hilsman and Robert Pietrucha, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles, to improve to an undefeated 2-0 on the season with a doubles victory over Gardner-Webb in the team's spring season opener on Jan. 30.
The Cougars will return to action with a pair of road matches at UNC Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C., and Winston-Salem State in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. (ET) and 2:30 p.m. (ET) respectively.
