SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston senior All-America candidate
Andrew Goudelock (Stone Mountain, Ga.) earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors for games played from Feb. 1-7 the league office announced on Tuesday.
Goudelock led the first-place Cougars (17-7, 10-2) to a 2-0 week with key wins over South Division rivals Wofford (79-54) on Feb. 3 and Furman (73-54) on Feb. 5. It marked his third career weekly honor. Goudelock has knocked 20-or-more points in seven of his last eight outings including a game-high 25 points versus Wofford and game-high 29 points against Furman. He is currently on a 10-game double-digit scoring streak and continues to rank among the top five players in the country in points per game (4th, 23.8) and three-pointers made (4th, 3.3 avg).
The school's all-time leading scorer, Goudelock ranks second nationally among active NCAA Division I players this season in career points (2,264) behind national-leader Charles Jenkins of Hofstra (2,323). He turned in his second-straight 100+ assist season against the Terriers with a game-high six caroms (102) and is also 18 points away from breaking into the league's top 10 list for career scoring as Furman's Darrell Floyd (1953-56) is ranked 10th with 2,281 career points.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Appalachian State's Omar Carter, The Citadel's Mike Groselle, Davidson's JP Kuhlman, Elon's Lucas Troutman, UNCG's Brandon Evans, Chattanooga's Omar Wattad, Western Carolina's Mike Williams and Wofford's Noah Dahlman.
