Alexa Datko Named SoCon Pitcher of the Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team's Alexa Datko was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Month as announced by the league office. The athletes of the month are nominated by each member institution and selected by the conference office.
Datko (San Diego, Calif.) posted a 7-2 record in 12 appearances over the month and maintained a 1.16 ERA in 60.1 innings pitched. The senior took 58 hitters down on strikes and walked just eight over the course of the month and held opponents to a .180 batting average.
Datko threw no hitters in just four days as well, the first coming against Georgia Southern and the second against South Carolina State.
Also nominated for the honor were Louise Gibson (Appalachian State), Erin O'Shea (Elon), Kayla Suskauer (Furman), Kayla Burris (Samford) and Kandice Irwin (Chattanooga).
