
Cougars Sweep Phoenix for the First Time Since 2009

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Bronwyn Conroy hit a walk-off double Sunday, April 5 for a 4-3 win over Elon to complete the series sweep.
The Cougars are now 20-21 overall and 10-5 in the CAA.
Sunday's victory marked Charleston's first sweep over the Phoenix since 2009 and the first in the program's CAA era.

CRITICAL POINTS
- To begin the game, Ryley Kutter struck out the lead off hitter for the Phoenix. Kutter held Elon scoreless with just four hits through the fourth inning.
- Charleston took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Leela Langston hit her first career home run with two outs.
- Elon had a three-run fifth inning against Jules Raymond and Erin McDaid. Mackenzie Mathis then entered the circle in the top of the sixth and had one strikeout over the Phoenix.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Bronwyn Conroy singled to left field and tallied her 30th stolen base of the season to tie the program's single season record. Julia Sitterding then hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Conroy to third. Elon threw a wild pitch and Conroy scored on the play to bring the score to 3-2.
- Halle Cannon had a inning ending catch with bases loaded in the top of the seventh to prevent any more Elon runs from being scored.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Sierra Paradis walked and Haley Wolsky pinch ran for the senior on first base. The Elon pitcher then walked Karlee Hughes and Wolsky advanced to scoring position. With two outs on a 0-2 count, Conroy sent a ball to left field for the Phoenix to make an error and drive in the two winning runs of the game, leaving the final score 4-3.
- Mathis picked up her 12th win of the season for her career high wins in a season.
- Conroy had one stolen base against the Phoenix to tie the program's single season record set by Jay Wrightsman in 2025.
- Langston had a Charleston high two hits on the afternoon.
- Charleston will travel to Coastal Carolina for a mid-week game on Wednesday, April 8 with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
- The Chanticleers will come to Charleston the following Tuesday for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
