Cannon Ends it With Walk-Off Double

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Halle Cannon hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth for the Cougars' 2-1 victory over Elon Friday evening.
Charleston is now 18-21 overall and 8-5 in the conference.
Mackenzie Mathis had eight strikeouts in her 11th win of the season.

- Leading off for the Cougars in the top of the second, Austy Miller singled and stole second base. Sam Horn then singled for one RBI sending Miller home for an early 1-0 lead.
- Elon would tie the game in the top of the fourth on an RBI double.
- Mathis would have five strikeouts through the end of the top of the seventh and hold the Phoenix scoreless through the end of the game.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Audri Bates walked to get the first Cougar on base. Cannon then sent a bomb to right field for an RBI double to end the game.
- Four Cougars had two hits Friday evening including Miller who had one run.
- Leela Langston had 10 putouts over Elon.
- Mathis has 91 strikeouts so far this season. As a freshman, Mathis had 124 strikeouts total.
- Charleston hosts Elon for the second game of the series Saturday, April 4.
- The Cougars will celebrate Senior Day, with the ceremony beginning at 2:35.
- Charleston softball will also host an egg hunt around the ballpark for fans.
